After a day in the field or heavy use, leather gathers dirt, dust, and moisture.
Dry Cleaning: Use a soft-bristled brush or a microfiber cloth to wipe away dust and debris.
Wipe Down: If grime persists, wipe the surface with a slightly damp cloth. Avoid soap or household detergents, as they strip the leather of its natural oils.
Over time, leather dries out, loses flexibility, and can crack.
Apply a leather conditioner containing beeswax or neatsfoot oil.
Spread a thin layer evenly using a soft cloth, let it absorb for 15–20 minutes, then buff gently with a clean rag.
Pro Tip: Less is more. Over-saturating leather makes it overly soft, causing the sheath to lose its structural hold on the knife.
If your sheath gets soaked out on the trail:
